Job description

Within the our team we are looking for an experienced programme assistant for the research programme Interdisciplinary Research in Health Dynamics, to replace a colleague during her pregnancy leave.

As a programme assistant you are responsible for the ins and outs of the courses and communication about the study programmeswith students and teachers. You work closely together with the programme manager and programme director and with the colleagues within the master office that support other master programmes. Our students come from all over the world, therefore all communication is in English.

Core activities are:

  • The organization of the study programme, including planning and scheduling of courses, room reservations, and keeping the digital learning environment (Brightspace) up to date.
  • Communicating with students and teachers by email and in person regarding the study programme.
  • Processing of students' study results (via Progress).
  • Prepare, collect and process course evaluations in preparation for meetings with the programme committee.
  • Administrative processing and communication surrounding the application and admission process.
  • Supporting various educational activities, such as graduation ceremonies, teacher meetings, student meetings, etc.
  • Secretarial support to the management team, such as planning of appointments and meetings, taking minutes of meetings and keeping track of actions.

Working environment

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) educates and trains excellent researchers and promotes excellent research. The GSMS is responsible for all (research) master programmes and PhD (education) programmes within the UMCG. The Master team is involved in the organization of the 2-year international master's programmes, including the research master's degree in Interdisciplinary Research in Health Dynamics (IRHD).

Job requirements

The candidate we are looking for is pro-active, service-minded, well-organized and fits the following requirements:

  • A relevant educational background, at least at HBO level
  • Relevant working experience is an advantage
  • Stress-resistant and able to find your way in a dynamic environment
  • A real team player and strong communication skills
  • Service oriented with a proactive attitude
  • A good planner/organizer
  • Strong basic computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and similar applications, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to and learn new systems.
  • Good command of English language in word, speech and writing

The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. You may be required to build up sufficient protection against Hepatitis B before you can be appointed. Vaccination is provided by the UMCG if necessary.
