We are looking for a technician with an affinity for analytical biochemistry and mass-spectrometry-based proteomics analyses. The analytical biochemistry aspect for this position will be focused on the development of isolation methods for extracellular vesicles. The second aspect of the position will be focused on performing the quantitative LC-MS proteomics measurements.

Job description

  • Isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles
  • Performing quantitative LC-MS analyses
  • Maintaining LC-MS instruments and solving technical problems
  • Developing, implementing, and validating new quantitative LC-MS methods

Working environment

The technician will be employed in the Pediatrics department under the supervision of Dr. Karin Wolters, and the technician will collaborate with other experienced technicians in the Interfaculty Mass Spectrometry Center.

What do we need

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the area of analytical chemistry or a related subject
  • Interest or experience in the analytical techniques required to isolate and characterize extracellular vesicles
  • Experience with LC-MS instruments and/or proteomics workflows is a pre. Otherwise, a clear interest in being trained in the operation and maintenance of LC-MS equipment and with LC-MS quantitative method development is required
  • Good command of oral and written English
  • Independent, flexible, enterprising, organized, solution-oriented
  • Capable of working in an interdisciplinary, academic, and international environment

What do we offer

This is a full-time appointment (36 hours), for a year with the prospect of extension. Your salary will be a maximum of € 4.340,-. gross per month (scale 7M), depending on your qualifications and relevant experience, based on a full-time appointment.
Additionally, the UMCG offers an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% year-end bonus.The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).
