Working environment
Work Environment UMC Groningen and the Beatrix Children's Hospital UMC Groningen, which includes the Beatrix Children's Hospital, is one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands and the largest employer in the northern Netherlands. With over 13,000 employees, we work together on the core tasks of care, research, education, and training with the common goal of building the future of health, focusing on healthy and active aging. In addition to an inspiring and ever-evolving work environment, the university city of Groningen offers a pleasant living and working environment. The Beatrix Children's Hospital is an academic children's hospital with a large, modern pediatric intensive care unit (20 beds) and a recently renovated neonatology department (22 beds).
Pediatric Surgery Within pediatric surgery, we are the only liver and intestinal transplant center for children in the Netherlands. We have a well-functioning anorectal function center where the pelvic floor and anal canal can be functionally mapped. Our pillars are neonatal surgery, colorectal surgery, hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, and thoracic wall surgery, with associated congenital or acquired abnormalities. We have excellent multidisciplinary collaboration within UMCG, as well as nationally and internationally, within the expertise centers for rare diseases. Currently, we work with 7 pediatric surgeons and have close cooperation with pediatricians, neonatology, pediatric ICU, and adult surgery. We are part of the Department of Surgery, which includes 55 FTE staff members. Due to the retirement of our colleague, we are looking for a new staff member.
