This project is partnership with Siemens Healthineers. As a PhD student you will work on developing and validating novel artificial intelligence tools for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients. State-of-the-art predictive models will be continuously evaluated and implemented in a clinical prototype for validation and feedback. The research includes quantitative imaging biomarkers, and multivariate analysis using CT and c-arm images from our large patient population. You will also assess the effect of implementing these tools as a healthcare intervention within a regional stroke network. You will closely work with experts from different disciplines (including Radiology, Neuroscience, Neurology, the faculty of Economics & Business (Health Technology Assessment) and experts in this field from other International universities. Results will be presented at scientific meetings and published in journals.
You should be a creative and enthusiastic researcher with an MSc degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Engineering, Technical Medicine or Biomedical Sciences or similar, with a clear interest in image analysis and an affinity with medical applications. Experience with artificial intelligence is preferred. Good communication skills, team spirit, but also being able to work independently are essential.
The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. The UMCG can provide you with the vaccination, should it be required for your position.

What do we offer
This is a full-time appointment for four years, that should result in a PhD thesis. Your salary will be a minimum of € 2.495,- gross per month in the first year and a maximum of € 3.196,- (scale PhD) in the final (4th) year, based on a full-time appointment.
